Let's break the record of inaction, together
Every second, 3 girls and 2 boys experience sexual violence.
#BreakTheRecord was launched by Together for Girls to bring an end to childhood sexual violence, once and for all.

It began when TfG released some of the world's first–ever data on the global prevalence of sexual violence against children.

And in November 2024, we will reach a new milestone with the largest-ever ministerial summit on childhood sexual violence, taking place in Bogotá, Colombia.

I'm an individual
Thank you for stepping up! Individuals among civil society are the backbone of social change. Here's how you can help.
Learn
The first step in addressing childhood sexual violence is to equip yourself in fully understanding it. Here are 5 things to remember when talking about the issue:
Prevalence
Hundreds of millions of children worldwide experience sexual violence, affecting their safety and well-being. Seek out information about your country and region to better understand how it affects you locally.
Impact
Sexual violence leads to long-lasting physical, mental, and emotional trauma, often resulting in lifelong consequences that impact not just survivors, but also wider society. Addressing it benefits everyone.
Stigma and Silence:
Many victims and survivors do not disclose their experience due to shame and fear, leaving perpetrators unpunished. When they do share, they are often retraumatized by the individuals and institutions that are supposed to help them. Let’s create a world where it’s safe and healing to come forward and disclose.
Global Recognition:
Ending childhood sexual violence is beginning to gain traction globally, with initiatives like the Sustainable Development Goals aiming to address it. Hold your representatives to account.
Collaboration:
Governments, researchers, civil society, global institutions, youth, and survivor-led movements are crucial in enacting laws, raising awareness, and providing support to end this violence. Everybody has a role to play. Find yours.
Act
1 in 8 children experienced non-consensual taking, sharing, and/or exposure to sexual images and videos this past year.

Stop online child sex abuse now! Tell governments & tech industries to keep kids safe!
Advocate
One of the most impactful actions you can take as a citizen is to ask your elected representative to prioritize the issue of childhood sexual violence. This can lead to legislative changes, increased funding for prevention and support programs, and ensure the voices of survivors and concerned citizens are heard.
